With less than a month until the Pro Football Hall of Fame induction ceremony, former Steelers head coach Bill Cowher spoke to the media to reflect on what will make this year’s induction class a memorable one.
Cowher was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2020, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic cancelling last year’s festivities, he, as well as the rest of last year’s induction class will be inducted this year as part of a special two-night ceremony.
He said he thinks it is going to be a special weekend and that “it will be a great way to kick-off the 2021 season.”
The Class of 2020 will be inducted on Saturday, Aug. 7, and joining Cowher will be his former safety Troy Polamalu and Steelers great Donnie Shell.
Cowher and Polamalu were a part of the Steelers Super Bowl XL championship team, and he called his former safety a special kind of player.
Another one of Cowher’s former players, offensive lineman Alan Faneca, who was also a part of the Super Bowl XL team, and contributor Bill Nunn will be inducted the following night.
The annual Hall of Fame Game will be played Thursday, Aug. 5 at 8 p.m., and will feature the Steelers and Cowboys.
