YORK, Pa. – The opening day of the 2017 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Swimming Championships wrapped up Thursday night, with the IUP men ranked fourth and the women sixth overall.
MEET RESULTS
The top individual finish for the IUP men came from sophomore Colter Long, who finished sixth in the finals of the 200 IM with a time of 1:53.38.
The men’s 200 medley relay team of Russell Oliver, Shane Hallett, Long and Andrew Richey had the Crimson Hawks’ top overall finish of the day, coming in third with a time of 1:33.35.
Also scoring points for the men were Mace Long in the 1000 freestyle (9:59.32), Nathan Dill in the 1000 freestyle (10:02.94), RJ Hammond in the 200 IM (1:56.63), Andrew Richey in the 50 freestyle (21.39), and Noah Brockway in the 50 freestyle (21.70).
IUP tallied 58 points in the standings to rank fourth, trailing leader West Chester (414 points), Bloomsburg (189), and Clarion (79). Gannon (52), Shippensburg (40), and Edinboro (37) round out the men’s standings.
On the women’s side, sophomore Regan Chalk posted the top individual finish, coming in sixth in the 200 IM with a time of 2:09.51.
The Crimson Hawks received 49 points in the 1000 freestyle, as four swimmers scored and finished in spots 10 through 17. Sophomore Bria Otwell touched the wall in 10:32.69, Beatriz Gonzalez (Barcelona, Spain) followed at 10:45.92, Anastasia Moffitt had a 10:50.73, and Gabby Gironda finished with a 10:50.83.
The women’s 200 medley relay team of Chalk, Taylor Campbell, Jessica Cochran, and Lindsey Aman finished eighth with a time of 1:49.49.
The IUP women have 118 points after the first day. West Chester leads with 414 points, followed by Bloomsburg (201), Edinboro (185), Clarion (154), and Shippensburg (151) is right in front of IUP in fifth.
