BASKETBALL
The District 6 playoffs resume tonight with semifinal action for both Double-A and Triple-A girls.
On 92.5 FM U92 and Renda Digital TV tonight, the fifth-seeded Marion Center girls take on top seed Bishop McCort in one Double-A semifinal, while second seed Portage will tangle with number six Bellwood Antis. The title game will be Thursday night at Mt. Aloysius College.
In Triple-A semifinal action on Cat Country 106.3 FM, third seed River Valley travels to Westmont Hilltop. The other semi features top seed Forest Hills against fourth seed Central Cambria. The winners will play Friday for the District 6 championship, also at Mt. Aloysius.
WRESTLING
The Indiana wrestling team advanced four wrestlers from the WPIAL District Tournament to the Double-A Southwest Regional in Altoona coming up on Friday.
Nico Fanella finished second and recorded his 100th career win, and three wrestlers finished fourth in their weight classes: Carter Putt, Will Turner, and Dominic Fanella.
TRACK & FIELD
At yesterday’s PTFCA Indoor State Track and Field meet, River Valley seniors Sara McConnell and Emily Jackson added new accolades to their careers. Jackson placed 3rd in the Shot Put with a throw of 37’9.25″ while McConnell placed 2nd in the High Jump, clearing 5’5″.
