Former IUP catcher Anthony Rota passed away this weekend at the age of 22.
Rota played in 18 games for the Crimson Hawks in 2019 and started nine of them. He posted a .273 average with one home run and five RBIs that year.
Anthony Rebyanski, who coached Rota in 2019 at IUP, said in a tweet that Rota was a “terrific and genuine person, who always put his team and teammates first. I’m grateful for having the opportunity to coach him and for being able to get to know him as a person.”
