The State System of Higher Education has released a survey of students and parents as part of the State System Redesign. It was a blind survey in which State System was not identified as the sponsor.
Of the 1,306 respondents, 509 were current students, 546 were prospective students, and 305 were parents of prospective students. The results show prospective students are most interested in attending class in a physical classroom with a live professor or an online professor from another campus; current students prefer live online lectures and activities in which they can participate from a location of their choice; pre-recorded lectures combined with live online small group discussion was the least appealing for both students sets.
Nine out of ten current and prospective students are okay with talking some courses online and 99 percent of parents are as well.
The Board of Governors of the State System will hold their quarterly meeting this Wednesday and Thursday, and will vote on a motion to proceed with the Redesign.
