YOUTH LEGION
Game One of the best-of-three Indiana County Youth American Legion Championship Series was suspended last night due to rain with S.W. Jack of Indiana leading Marion Center 7-5 headed to the bottom of the fourth inning.
The game was moved to First Commonwealth Bank Field in Homer City due to poor field conditions at Marion Center. It will resume today at 5:30 PM. Game Two of the series will also be played tonight, thirty minutes after the completion of the first game. It, too, will be played at First Commonwealth Bank Field in Homer City.
The league champion will also advance to the PA Youth American Legion Western Regional Tournament in Punxsutawney starting next weekend.
SENIOR LEGION
The Senior Legion Westmoreland County quarterfinal game between Young Township and Murrysville was suspended due to rain with Young Township leading, 7-1 in the bottom of the fourth at Bertolino Field.
Murrysville scored first when a Brady Yard pickoff throw to third appeared to get Connor Helm, but Helm broke for home and scored when the throw to the plate hit him in the back. After not getting a hit through the first three innings, Young Township scored all seven of its runs in the fourth.
Young Township leads the series, 1-0. The two teams will resume play tonight, and if Murrysville can come back and win it, the decisive third game will follow the completion of the suspended game.
