Some strong storms rolled through our area yesterday, with some areas still feeling the effects.
Scattered power outages were reported by Penelec this morning. As of 7:00 AM, there were 83 Penelec customers without power, with 55 outages in Smicksburg Borough and the rest scattered across Homer City, Blairsville and Plumville boroughs, along with West Mahoning Township. Power is expected to be restored by 11:00 this morning.
Penelec representatives say that at the storm’s peak, about 325 of their customers were without power, while nearby Cambria County took the brunt with close to 10,000 Penelec customers without power yesterday.
Only one REA Energy Cooperative member in Indiana County is reporting an outage this morning near Robinson.
While there are some storms predicted today, they are not expected to be as strong as yesterday’s weather. And as far as the remnants of Tropical Storm Elsa go, Accuweather.com Meteorologist Danielle Knittle said that the county may not see a lot of impact from Elsa, but from another storm system.
