State Representative Brian Smith has announced that some Indiana County fire companies will receive some state grant money.
The money is coming from an ongoing grant program created by the state legislature and administered by the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency and the Office of the State Fire Commissioner. All the money handed out through these grants comes from slot machine gaming. Smith said that the money is important as it helps the volunteer fire companies to offset their operating costs. Projects eligible for funding include construction or renovation of a fire or ambulance company facility, purchase or repair of equipment, training, or reduction of existing debt.
In this round of grants, the Marion Center Fire Department will receive $13,645.11 and Plumville fire department will receive $14,228.68.
