Today is the final day for gathering public comment on the State System of Higher Education’s plan to consolidate six universities into two, and the Board of Governors has a virtual meeting planned for this morning (8:30 AM).
The agenda for the meeting includes an informational update on the proposed integrations, and it also features comments from union leaders at the state-owned universities. APSCUF, the faculty union, opposes the plan to merge California, Edinboro and Clarion into a one entity in the western half of the state and Bloomsburg, Mansfield, and Lock Haven into a single entity in the east.
The agenda also calls for a vote on adding two new student members to the board.
