In Westmoreland County, a Fairfield man was charged on Friday with attempted homicide, two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and 10 other offenses for beating a woman last Christmas night, stomping her repeatedly in the head with steel-toed boots at a party in New Florence.
Police say 26-year-old Zachery Allen Collier had been drinking and using drugs when he attacked the woman because she would not give him the car keys to leave. Despite suffering multiple facial fractures, she began driving Collier home but he continued to assault her, even after she pulled over and switched seats with him.
Collier is accused of continuing to stalk her and trying to locate her for weeks afterward, and was observed near a home at which she was staying on January 21.
Collier is being held at the Westmoreland County Prison without bond, with a preliminary hearing scheduled for July 8th.
