The Pirates found the veteran catcher they’ve been seeking since Endy Rodriguez went down for the season with Tommy John surgery. The Bucs have reportedly come to an agreement on a one-year deal for former White Sox catcher Yasmani Grandal. He’s been with the Chisox for the last four seasons and has also played for the Padres, Dodgers, and Brewers.
The 35-year-old Grandal hit .234 with eight home runs and 33 RBIs last season in 118 games. He made the All-Star team with the Dodgers in 2015 and the Brewers in 2019.
Pirates pitchers and catchers report to Bradenton tomorrow, with their first workout scheduled for Wednesday.
