Two people are due in Indiana County Court today for sentencing hearings for crimes committed while they were incarcerated.
One is for 25-year-old Kenneth Murphy of Indiana, who pleaded guilty in November of last year to a charge of aggravated assault-attempt to cause severe bodily injury with extreme indifference in connection with a case that goes back to January 23rd of 2023. Other charges, including assault by a prisoner, a second count of aggravated assault and others were not prosecuted as part of the plea agreement.
The other hearing is for 28-year-old Edward Ortiz, also of Indiana. He pleaded guilty last December to two counts of aggravated harassment by a prisoner for an incident on June 2nd of 2023. Other charges, including simple harassment, terroristic threats and disorderly conduct were not prosecuted.
