The Pittsburgh Penguins could only get two shots behind former teammate Marc-Andre Fleury last night, and it wasn’t enough to get the win against the Minnesota Wild as the Pens lost 3-2.
Matt Boldy started the scoring with a power play goal for the Wild at the 12:57 mark of the first. In the second, Reily Smith tied the game at the 2:54 mark. Minnesota re-took the lead with a goal from Jonas Brodin. In the 3rd, Sidney Crosby scored on the power play to tie it back up at the 1:01 mark.
But at the 9:34 mark, Kirill Kaprizov scored what turned out to be the game winner. The Pens challenged the goal, saying the puck went out of play and the refs missed a game stoppage before the goal was score, but the refs let the goal stand. Fleury made 34 saves on the night while Alex Nedeljkovic made 27 saves.
No rest for the Pens. They are now headed to Winnipeg to face the Jets tonight. Faceoff is 7:00, pre-game at 6:00 on U-92.5 FM.
