This morning, IUP Athletics announced the award recipients for the 5th Annual Crimson and Gray Awards.
The awards honor the top men’s and women’s performers for the 2020-21 regular and post season across nine categories. IUP Athletics said in an announcement that this year’s awards look different due to the cancellation of the fall sports season, so 11 out of 19 programs were represented at this year’s ceremony.
Below is a list of all winners (will be updated once more winners are announced):
Scholar Athlete of the Year: Sam Lenze (Cross Country) and Claire Mikesell (Swimming)
Academic Teams of the Year: Men’s Golf (3.77 GPA) and Women’s Tennis (3.69 GPA)
Coach of the Year: Larry Peterson (Women’s Tennis) and Dan Braun (Men’s Golf)
Performance of the Year: Paige Mikesell (Swimming) and Luke Mikesell (Swimming)
Top Freshman of the Year: Katy Graydon (Women’s Tennis) and Luke Mikesell (Swimming)
Breakthrough Athlete of the Year: Rachel Rodriguez (Softball) and Austin Mueller (Baseball)
Postseason Performer of the Year: Paige Mikesell (Swimming) and Luke Mikesell (Swimming)
Teammates of the Year (Women’s): Justina Mascaro (Basketball), Erin McGrath (XC/T&F), Blaise Gucini (Field Hockey), Leah Hunter (LAX), Mahogany Willis (Soccer), Hope Jones (Softball), Rachel Johnson (Swimming), Idoia Huerta (Tennis), Kylie Osborn (Volleyball)
