IUP restocked the football cupboard yesterday with sixteen incoming freshman, complementing the five transfers previously announced.
Nine of the new Crimson Hawks are offensive players and seven are defensive. All of the new recruits are from Pennsylvania except one, who is from Maryland.
The offensive group includes quarterback Zachary Hahn of Manheim, PA; running backs Amir Major of North Penn High School in Lansdale and Fernando Marquez of Cedar Crest High School in Lebanon; and wide receivers Brennan Holmes of New Oxford High School and Michael Gimigliano of South Fayette. There are four offensive linemen, including 6-7, 340-pound Pierce Cannon of Woodland Hills High School. The other offensive linemen include Augustine Bryan of Springfield, PA; Tanner Fuchs of Pittsburgh Central Catholic; and Jayden Daniels-Keys of McKeesport.
On the defensive side, IUP’s recruits include four on the line of scrimmage: end Logan Goodwin of Henderson High in West Chester, and fellow linemen Anthony Shovlin of Pittsburgh Central Catholic, Braeden Walker of West Mifflin, and Ayden Wysocki of South Western High School in Hanover. Linebacker Antonio Greene comes from Dematha Catholic in Maryland. Defensive back Carlos Scott is from Steel Valley, and defensive back Taymir O’Neal is from Westinghouse.
Six of IUP’s recruits were All-State selections last year.

SLIPPERY ROCK
One of IUP’s biggest rivals will be getting a Heritage Conference star. West Shamokin’s Lou Swartz has signed a letter of intent to play for The Rock, which lists him as a tight end. Coach Shawn Lutz says the 6-1, 220-pound Schwartz will likely redshirt in his freshman year as he continues his recovery from a knee injury suffered last season. He says Swartz “can do a lot of things” in Slippery Rock’s offense.
