Pitt coach Jeff Capel could point to about a dozen different little things the Panthers did well to beat North Carolina State last night. There was an offensive rebound put back by Fedde Federiko with 30 seconds to go. There was an 18-of-20 performance from the foul line, including Jaland Lowe’s two free throws with six seconds left. And there was the Panthers’ determination in the face of losing an 11-point lead in the first half and a 13-point lead in the second half.
In the end, it all added up to a 67-64 win in Raleigh for Pitt, as Lowe scored 20 points, Blake Hinson had 16, and Bub Carrington had 12.
Capel says it was a gritty effort by his Panthers.
Pitt is 15-8, 6-6 in the ACC. They’ll have the weekend off and play at 22nd-ranked Virginia on Tuesday.
