The NHL All-Star break is finally over and the Penguins are back in action tonight at PPG Paints Arena, ready to tackle the Winnipeg Jets and get a boost on a run to the Eastern Conference playoffs. But they have work to do. The Pens are in fifth place in the Metro Division and sit two slots out of the second Wild Card in the Eastern Conference. The Detroit Red Wings are the last team in at the moment, with 58 points. The Penguins have 52 points and trail the Rangers, Hurricanes, Flyers, and islanders in the Metro.
Coach Mike Sullivan says they have the guns to make a run.
Sullivan says even though the Penguins are a veteran team that has seen it all, they need to bring the emotional fire to their game.
Winnipeg comes into the game in third place in the Central Division of the Western Conference, with 65 points, but the Jets are on a three-game losing streak, with back-to-back losses to Toronto heading into the All-Star break.
Tonight’s game faces off at 7 o’clock. Because of the Road to the KCAC basketball games, the Penguins play tonight on WCCS, with the pregame beginning at 6.
