The Purchase Line School Board on Monday night approved a new health and safety plan for the next school year.
The plan is a requirement for American Rescue Plan ESSER funds. While the district is going to keep some of the social distancing and cleaning guidelines, but Superintendent Shawn Ford said that one of the changes will be that masks will be optional. He added that for certain groups of people, masks will still be recommended.
In other business, the board approved the 2021-2022 budget, which contains a 2.2% tax increase. The budget came to $20,712,665 in expenses and $19,752,951 in revenues. The district will use a fund balance of $959,714 to balance the budget. Ford said that the tax increase was not only to help out with next year’s budget, but looking ahead for the district’s future.
Also, the board approved hiring Jeremy Bracken as the district athletic director and Kelley Goss as the Head Coach for the Girls’ Basketball team.
