UPDATE
Fire officials from Pine Township released additional details regarding the crash that occurred at the Dollar General Store along Route 422 East this morning.
They say the crash was accidental and that the woman who was driving the car told officials she accidentally hit the gas pedal instead of the brake, causing her car to crash into the store. She did not suffer injuries as a result of the crash, but she was taken to IRMC by Citizens Ambulance as a precaution.
Store employees say that while no critical damage was done, the store will be temporarily closed for repairs.
WATER RESCUE:
In addition to the busy morning, emergency crews continued to answer emergency calls this afternoon.
Indiana County 911 reports that Big Run, Punxsutawney and Glen Campbell fire crews, along with the Water Rescue team, were dispatched to Hemlock Lake in Banks Township for reports of an overturned boat around 1:13 p.m.
Crews were able to get everyone involved out of the water shortly after 1:30 p.m. No additional details have been released yet.
WHAT WAS ORIGINALLY REPORTED:
It’s turning into a busy day for emergency crews as they have been called out to two crashes within an hour in Indiana County.
Indiana County 911 reported the first crash at the intersection of South 6th Street Extension and Indian Springs Road in White Township at 9:45 AM when the two vehicles collided in the intersection. Indiana Fire Association officials say that the two vehicles hit each other’s front corners in the collision. One person was taken to IRMC with unknown injuries. State Police were also on the scene along with Citizens’ Ambulance.
The second crash was at 10:30 this morning at the Dollar General store on Route 422 East in Pine Township as a vehicle struck the store. Pine Township and Cherryhill fire departments were dispatched at the time, along with Cherry Tree Police and Citizens’ Ambulance. No word yet on how this crash happened or if anyone was injured.
