At Thursday night’s meeting, the Penns Manor School Board approved the 2021-2022 budget that included a 0.648 mil tax increase.
The new tax rate for district residents is 15.3768 mils. The budget passed by a 6-3 vote with Ron Larch, Richard Polenik, and Tammy Dalton voting against it. Larch said that he felt that district residents should not have to worry about tax increases this year due to the Covid-19 Pandemic affecting everyone.
The budget comes to $18,569,280 in expenses and $18,526,839 in revenues. The budget will utilize money from the district’s fund balance to fill the budget gap.
In other business, the board approved the contract of Ronald J Saffron as the district’s solicitor for a one-year term. Saffron is entering the 29th year as the district solicitor. The board also approved contracts with Perry Driveway Sealing to sealcoat the parking lot and paint parking space lines, All American Athletics to recoat the gym floors, Tom Talmadge Painting for painting of the district facilities, and Straight Edge Concrete and Masonry to work on the district’s sidewalks.
