More details are expected to be released today concerning the death of a nine-month-old infant and charges that may be filed against the mother in this case.
First responders were called out to the home of 21-year-old Patricia Hullenbaugh on January 6th after getting a call about a nine-month-old boy that was not breathing. Investigators say Hullenbaugh first told police that the child was found hanging out of his crib with his face down in the mattress, but later recanted her story. She reportedly admitted to pressing a blanket up to the baby’s face, and then trying to cover up her actions.
Hullenbaugh is charged with criminal homicide, possession of an instrument of crime, strangulation and child endangerment, according to court documents. Bail was denied, and she is in Indiana County Jail. A preliminary hearing will be held on February 8th.
Indiana Borough Police, the county district attorney, and the county coroner will be on hand for a news conference at 1:00 this afternoon at the George E. Hood Municipal Building. We will stream that conference on our Facebook page.
