Gas prices in Indiana County hold steady as the statewide average drops slightly.
According to Triple-A, the average cost of a gallon of gas in Pennsylvania is $3.17 a gallon as of this morning. Last week, the average was a penny higher. The average went up by three cents over the last month and 86 cents over the last year.
Triple A is reporting that crude oil prices have hit their highest levels of the year so far at $70 per barrel. That is the highest price since October of 2018. The price increases is due to the increasing confidence of the Covid-19 vaccine and the promising impact it will have on global gasoline demand as people will want to get out more.
In Indiana County, the gas price average is $3.24 a gallon, which ties it with Armstrong and Westmoreland Counties. Clearfield has the lowest gas price average in the region at $3.21 a gallon. Jefferson and Cambria Counties checked in with a $3.25 a gallon average.
Gas prices in Indiana, Homer City, Blairsville and Clymer this morning are coming in at $3.25 a gallon.
