UPDATE:
24-year-old Eugene Wesseh of Philadelphia was sentenced in plea court this morning to serve two years of probation for charges stemming from an incident on November 8, 2016.
Wesseh pleaded guilty to charges of simple assault, and in addition to serving probation, he will also have to pay costs and fines. He was also charged with sexual assault-related crimes including rape by forcible compulsion, aggravated indecent assault without consent and indecent assault without consent. No details have been released yet on sentencing for those charges.
Wesseh had been free on $25,000 unsecured bond prior to his trial.
WHAT WE PREVIOUSLY REPORTED
It will be a busy day in Indiana County’s Court of Common Pleas, and while many of the hearings will be for DUI Criminal Call, there will be one plea court hearing today.
24-year-old Eugene Wesseh of Philadelphia will go before Indiana County President Judge Tom Bianco to enter pleas today to charges of rape by forcible compulsion, sexual assault, aggravated indecent assault without consent, indecent assault without consent, and indecent assault by forcible compulsion. The charges stemmed from an incident on November 8th of 2016.
Should Wesseh enter a not guilty plea this morning, jury selection for his trial will start on June 21st. Wesseh has been free on $25,000 unsecured bond. His jury trial was to have been held in August of last year, but the trial was continued.
