From IUP Athletics:
INDIANA, Pa. – IUP football’s Nazir Streater and Duane Brown were named Division II Preseason All-Americans as Lindy’s Sports annual college football preview magazine, which hit the stands earlier this summer.
Additionally, the Crimson Hawks were ranked 20th by Lindy’s in its 2021 preseason top-25.
Streater, Brown and the Crimson Hawks are excited about a return to play in 2021 after losing the 2020 season due to the pandemic. IUP finished the 2019 season with a 10-2 overall record and posted the program’s fourth NCAA Division II playoff appearance in the last five seasons. It was also the program’s 13th 10-win season all-time and the fourth since 2012.
IUP was ranked by the national coaches and media for most of the season, finishing the year at No. 21 in the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) poll.
Streater, a senior cornerback, earned All-American honors in 2019 after tallying six interceptions and 17 pass breakups in 11 games. A transfer from LIU Post, Streater was a unanimous first team All-Super Region One selection and arguably the best defensive back in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC). Six times he defensed multiple passes in one game, including a 2-interception, 3-breakup performance against Edinboro that earned him PSAC West Defensive Athlete of the Week honors.
Brown had a breakout year as a sophomore receiver in 2019 after making the switch from running back. He earned all-region and all-conference honors that season as one of the nation’s top touchdown threats with 19 total trips to the end zone. A two-time PSAC West Offensive Athlete of the Week, Brown caught 47 passes for 937 yards and 13 scores, adding six more touchdowns on the ground while averaging 14.7 yards on 12 punt returns.
The Crimson Hawks are scheduled to open their season Saturday, September 11 against Kutztown at home. The full 2021 schedule can be found here. Single game and season ticket information will be announced later this summer.
