The Pittsburgh Penguins salvaged the tie, but lost once again in an overtime shootout, this time to the Florida Panthers 3-2.
Jake Guentzel started the scoring at the 1:51 mark of the first period with a tip-in power play goal. Bryan Rust and Erik Karlsson assisted on the goal. Evan Rodrigues of the Panthers tied it about 3 minutes later on his own power play goal. In the second, Sam Reinhart gave the Panthers the lead at the 11:49 mark of the second period.
In the third, Evgeni Malkin broke his slump (which included an own-goal on Monday) with less than a minute to go in the game to tie the score.
In the shootout, Rust was the only Penguin to score in the shootout, while Aleksander Barkov and Reinhart scored for Florida.
