At its special meeting Tuesday night, the Blairsville-Saltsburg School Board voted to approve head coaches for all sports for the next school year, but some names were approved that were not originally brought up on the agenda.
The board voted only to hire head coaches during last night’s meeting, and the board approved Jess Houser for football, James Buckles for volleyball, Scott Stuchal for wrestling and golf, Melissa Milanak for track and field, Frank Harsh for softball, and Mark Palmer for baseball. The two candidates that were not hired were those for boys and girls basketball, as those votes were outright rejected by the board majority vote. Later in the meeting, the board approved, 6-3, to hire Ricc Brown as the new girls basketball coach and Donnie Stitt as the boys basketball coach. One person who voted against all the coaches was Holly Hall, who said that she was not voting against the coaches.
In other business, the board accepted the resignation of Kelsey Ferguson as District Director of Athletics and Student Activities. Tiara Stossel was named as the new director to take Ferguson’s place.
