The Marion Center School District has notified parents about a potential realignment that the district is considering.
In a letter posted to the school district’s website, the board is considering a proposal to change the system in place for the district’s two elementary schools. The proposal would make Rayne Elementary a kindergarten through second grade school, and the W.A. McCreery school a third to sixth grade building. In the letter, Superintendent Clint Wimer says there are many advantages to the realignment, including creating age-appropriate learning environments, curriculum alignment, improved teacher collaboration, optimized resource use and allocation, and enhanced student support services. As far as transportation goes, it’s proposed that students at McCreery would move to the same bus schedule as the Jr./Sr. high school, while the Rayne elementary schedule would remain the same.
The board is asking for input from the community on the issue and people can submit their comments through the district website. A link to the letter and to a form where citizens can submit comments can be found at the following links.
