The return of Ke’Bryan Hayes and more clutch hitting by Jacob Stallings made for a good night for the Pirates in their series opener against the Miami Marlins last night.

In his weekly injury update, director of sports medicine Todd Tomczyk said pitcher Miguel Yajure has been shut down from all throwing activities at Indianapolis as he deals with a sore elbow. Tomczyk says there is “cause for concern” for the 23-year-old, who has made two spot starts for the Pirates this season.
Steven Brault, who has been out all season with a strained back muscle, has increased his throwing in Florida to 120 feet and Tomczyk says he is “encouraged” by Brault’s progress. Pitcher Trevor Cahill is pain free after throwing live batting practice on Tuesday.
At Indianapolis, first baseman Colin Moran was 1-3 with a two-run homer and Phillip Evans, playing third base, was 1-3 as well. Both were playing in their second rehab games. Moran has been out since May 9th with a groin injury and Evans since May 13th with a hamstring injury.
TONIGHT:
Mitch Keller [3-6, 6.54 ERA], coming off five scoreless innings last Saturday against the Rockies, pitches for the Bucs against the Marlins’ Cody Poteet [2-1. 2.95 ERA]. . The airtime will be 6:40, with first pitch at 7:05 on WCCS.
