Only one case will go before Indiana County’s Court of Common Pleas this morning, and that will be a plea court hearing for a man charged in connection with a crash involving an SUV and a school bus in White Township in 2019.
Thomas Andrew Grasty of Delaware County, who will turn 29 next Wednesday, is charged with two misdemeanor counts of DUI-second offense and summary driving-related charges. He was allegedly behind the wheel of a car that turned left in front of a bus at the intersection of West Pike and Ben Franklin Road near the YMCA of Indiana County and Ben Franklin Elementary School on June 6th of 2019. The car was pinned against a utility pole and mostly underneath the bus after the crash. He was taken to Indiana Regional Medical Center and then Allegheny General Hospital for treatment of serious injuries.
The bus driver, 59-year-old James Grube of Homer City, was also charged with running a red light in the incident. The bus did not have any students on board at the time of the crash.
The plea court hearing comes five days before a jury trial is scheduled to start.
