Former IUP quarterback Lynn Hieber is among the nominees for the 2022 College Football Hall of Fame.
Hieber has been nominated before but has not made it into the Hall yet. He was an All-American in both 1974 and ’75, leading all of Division Two in total offense in ’75 and earning ECAC Players of the Year honors. When he graduated, he held seven IUP records.
Jim Haslett and Frank Cignetti are IUP’s only members of the College Football Hall of Fame.
Others among the nominees are former Slippery Rock coach George Mihalick and ex-Cal coach John Luckhardt.
Pitt’s Matt Cavanagh and Craig “Ironhead” Heyward, Penn State’s Paul Posluszny, LaVar Arrington, and Steve Wisniewski, and former Steelers Antwaan Randle-El, Ted Peterson, and Levon Kirkland are also nominated.
