The River Valley School Board will meet tonight and on the agenda is a motion to hire outside legal counsel in connection with an investigation into a wire fraud scheme.
District solicitor Ryan Cribbs announced in November that an outside network of one of the district’s vendors was breached and used to make a fraudulent wire transfer of $736,126.91, and made it look like it was a regular payment from the district to the vendor. The theft happened in October of last year. Federal authorities are investigating the crime, and no update has been provided since the investigation started. The motion on the proposed agenda for tonight would authorize and retain the services of Houston Harbagh P.C. as an outside counsel relative to the investigation.
The board will also look at a contract for professional services by the PSBA’s Policy Review Service in an amount not to exceed $6,900. It would be paid by the business office budget. The board will also look to name an acting STEAM director and an acting director of curriculum and instruction.
The meeting will start at 7:00 at the River Valley High School Auditorium and will also be streamed online through the district’s YouTube channel.
