Organizers with the Northern Appalachian Folk Festival have announced that they will open a school to focus on the arts and humanities of the region.
The Jim Rogers and Ken Holliday Folk School on the Arts and Humanities will be located in Suite 1 at 580 Philadelphia Street in the building that houses Sunflower Yoga and Fox’s Pizza. The NAFF Folk School will be the first of its kind in the region, adopting the missions of similar schools in Georgia, Tennessee and Sweeden.
The first class to be held at the school will be clogging class in March, with a fiddle class to follow along with a harmonica class that is meant to help those with COPD. A lecture series is also in the works for the school that will focus on major issues in the region.
