At Tuesday night’s meeting, Homer City Borough Council continued discussion on a new burn ordinance.
While a draft ordinance was not ready for approval last night, the council did hear from Joy Sasala, who wanted to see a burn ordinance enacted. She said that some people near her home burn frequently and she is concerned for her neighbors.
During the meeting, the council put forward a consensus idea of what they want to see in the burning ordinance. Burning would be banned in the borough with the exception of campfires, cooking fires such as grills, and special exceptions that would have to be approved on a case by case basis by Mayor Arlene Wanatosky or Chief Anthony Jellison.
Borough Council President Kenneth “Cal” Cecconi said that discussion on this has been going on for the past few months, including a few draft ordinances that did not pass. He wants to see this completed as soon as possible.
In other business, Mayor Wanatosky presented Clark Bush of Boy Scout Troop 24 a certificate congratulating him on becoming an Eagle Scout.
