The Pirates and Altoona Curve both had their games postponed last night due to inclement weather.
The Pirates will make-up last night’s rain-out this afternoon with a split doubleheader. Game one will start at 12:05 p.m. and will show J.T. Brubaker toe the rubber for the Pirates. He will oppose Jon Gray.
Friday’s starters – Mitch Keller (Pirates) and Austin Gomber (Rockies) – will start in game two, which is slated for a 4:05 p.m. start time.
Because of the adjusted schedule, there will be no noon news report on WCCS 101.1 FM and AM 1160. Instead, we will air the entirety of the Oldies Attic and FOX News at the top of the hour, then join the Pirates broadcast prior to first pitch. This sets up a tentative start time at 12:04 p.m.
The Curve will also make up Friday’s postponed game in a split doubleheader today. Game one will start at 4 p.m. and game two will start at 7 p.m. Starters for those games have not been announced yet.
WILL CRAIG ADDRESSES BLUNDER
One day after Will Craig committed one of baseball’s most infamous blunders, he spoke to reporters on what exactly went through his head during that play.
Craig said manager Derek Shelton, along with friends and family, texted and called him numerous times following the game to ensure he was okay. Craig adds that Shelton’s call encouraged him since “[Shelton] knows how much pride I take in my defense, how much I really care about it.”
Shelton told reporters that dwelling on the play does the club no good and that the team plans on moving forward and focusing on the upcoming series.
He also indicated that Craig will not be designated for assignment because of the play.
