Indiana borough council approved a tentative budget for the next year that will include a tax increase, but not as much as originally thought.
The budget for the next year that was approved last night includes a .4 mil tax increase, meaning that the average property owner in Indiana Borough will see an increase of $63. Borough manager C. Michael Foote said that the borough took a look at many different options, including a budget without a tax increase and a budget with a .5 mil increase.
Foote said that there were cuts made in each department in order to reduce the general fund expenditures by nearly 2%.
Gerald Smith was the only borough council member who voted against the budget. The budget will be put out for public inspection, and council is expected to approve the budget in December.
