On the first day of the international signing period, the Pirates signed ten players, including two who are ranked among the top 32 prospects available.
18-year-old outfielder Brailyn Brazodan of the Dominican Republic is ranked number twelve on the international market and is the number 38 prospect overall according to MLB Pipeline.
16-year-old shortstop Abdiel Feliz is also Dominican and ranked number 32 in the international pool and number 50 overall by MLB Pipeline.
Other MLB Pipeline Top 100 prospects signed by the Pirates are Dominican shortstop Kendrick Herrera (#79) and right-handed Venezuelan pitcher Irwin Ramirez (#91).
Baseball America reports the Pirates have reached agreement with Dominican pitchers Reinold Navorro, Frankeli Mesta, Randol Martinez and Jesus Tapia, Dominican outfielder Edward Florentino, Venezuelan catcher Jesus Lizardo and pitcher Rubens Romero, who’s from Australia.
The Bucs are scheduled to announce their official international signees on Friday.
