DISTRICT 6 SOFTBALL/BASEBALL
Yesterday’s District 6 softball action was rained out for the Heritage Conference teams, with all of the games rescheduled for today at 4:00, with one exception.
In Class A, #5 Penns Manor visits #4 Glendale and #7 Homer-Center travels to #2 Portage.
In Double-A, top seed Marion Center will play host to #8 Juniata Valley while #4 Blairsville plays host to #5 Penns Valley. #7 United travels to #2 Mount Union at 4:30.
The softball winners will play semifinal games Friday at the home of the highest seed, which could put Blairsville in action at Marion Center.
In baseball action today, #2 Marion Center’s Double-A semifinal game against # 6 Mount Union has been pushed back to a 5:15 start due to the softball game scheduled at 4 on the adjacent field. The other semifinal has #1 Portage hosting #5 Southern Huntingdon.
The Double-A final is scheduled for next Tuesday, June 1st, at 7:30 at Altoona’s PNG Field.
There is a reschedule for the Saltsburg boys Class A semifinal with Moshannon Valley, which will be played tomorrow at 3:00 rather than Thursday, due to ICTC’s scheduled senior ceremony on Thursday.
The broadcast schedule today has the Blairsville softball game on WCCS at 3:45. On WDAD, there’s a doubleheader of sorts, with the Marion Center softball game on the air at 3:45, and the baseball game to follow, possibly already in progress, with the start times of those games separated by an hour and 15 minutes.
LACROSSE
Indiana’s season came to a close in the WPIAL Double-A semifinals with a hard-fought 13-11 loss to top seeded and undefeated Blackhawk. Mars beat Hampton in the other semi.
