IUP has finalized transition plans for leadership roles for the John and Char Kopchick Hall in 2021.
On its website, the university announced that professor Anne Kondo will serve as the acting dean of the Kopchick College from June 5 to August 6. This comes after current dean Deanne Snavely announced her retirement, which is scheduled for June 4.
On August 7, distinguished professor Steven Hovan will take over as interim dean until “a national search for the position is launched and concluded,” according to university Provost and Vice President of Student Affairs Timothy Moerland.
Moerland said that both Kondo and Hovan are “well suited for leadership,” and he says that he is confident in their ability to move the Kopchick College forward in all ways.
Kondo has been a part of IUP’s faculty since 1997 and Hovan has served as his department’s chair for 14 years during his 26-year career.
