IUP Swimming earned PSAC postseason honors yesterday.
Women’s head coach Chris Villa was named PSAC Women’s Swimming Coach of the Year. Villa led IUP to one of its strongest seasons in program history including a PSAC title – the program’s first this century, according to IUP Athletics. He also helped IUP to a 13th place finish in the NCAA tournament.
Paige Mikesell earned PSAC Women’s Swimming Athlete of the Year Honors. She earned a national championship in the 200-yard freestyle while earning seven All-American honors at the NCAA Division II championships. She was named PSAC Women’s Most Outstanding Swimmer at the 2020-21 PSAC Championships in York, after collecting four individual and three relay titles.
Luke Mikesell was also named PSAC Men’s Swimming Freshman of the Year. Luke earned All-American honors at the NCAA Division II championships in March after a fourth-place finish in the 500-freestyle.
He also broke two school records: 500 free (4:42.92) and the 100 free (45.08).
