A snowstorm this morning has caused some sloppy road conditions and that has led to two vehicle accidents so far.
The storm arrived in the 5:00 hour this morning, bringing with it a wintry mix of rain and snow that made driving risky for some this morning. Many Indiana County school districts cancelled classes this morning while others went to two-hour delays. You can find the complete list for schools in the Armstrong-Indiana Intermediate unit by clicking here.
We have also been notified of two event cancellations. River Valley Athletics has announced their Girls Basketball games against Connemaugh Valley are cancelled. Also cancelled is the River Valley wrestling match against United.
Meanwhile, the sloppy roads and high winds may have been the cause of two vehicle accidents this morning.
The first was on Hutchinson Hollow Road in East Wheatfield Township at 6:41 AM. The Armagh and Clyde fire departments, state police and West End Ambulance were dispatched at the time. The other accident was on Route 259 in West Wheatfield Township. Clyde and Armagh fire departments were called out again along with state police and Citizens Ambulance at 8:13 AM.
There was also a report of utility lines down on Deyarmin Road in Buffington Township at 8:00 this morning.
We have also received word from the Indiana County Solid Waste Authority that they are also having problems with their recycling runs today, primarily in the White Township Area, as trucks are having difficulties with icy conditions on hillsides. No make-up runs have been scheduled, and people are advised to hold on to their recyclables until next week.
