A local scout troop is holding a unique fundraiser to help their troop and to help people in Indiana Borough and White Township show their patriotism.
BSA Scout Troop 11 is selling a subscription service to make sure that on certain holidays, American flags will be put out in peoples’ front yards. Those taking part will be given a small American flag to put in their yard to mark where a full size flag would be posted. The morning of the holiday, a member of Troop 11 will come out and put the flag in place, then before sunset, the scout will return to collect the flag. Betty Ishoy, one of the organizers said that she and co-organizer Kammi Cooper were inspired by a similar fundraiser held where they used to live.
Her son Alex is a member of the troop and he talks about what the proceeds will be used for.
The subscription starts at $45 to have flags out for Memorial Day, Flag Day, 4th of July and Labor Day, with an additional cost to add Veterans Day in November. For more information, call Betty at 678-491-7808 or Kammi at 724-427-5266.
