The Pirates play host to the Giants for a four-game series starting tonight. Wil Crowe (0-1, 4.02 ERA) takes on Anthony DeSclafini (2-1, 2:40 ERA). Airtime is 6:10 on WCCS.
In his weekly media update on injured players, Pirates director of sports medicine Todd Tomczyk said Ke’Bryan Hayes is increasing his volume of swings while working on lower body strength, in anticipation of when his injured wrist will allow him to get back on the field for a rehab assignment. Pitcher Chad Kuhl will throw a live batting practice/simulated game soon, fellow pitcher Steven Brault will soon start playing catch, and first baseman Colin Moran will return “sooner rather than later” from his injured groin.
