IUP has posted the solicitation for bids to demolish Foster Dining Hall, the out-of-commission dining hall at Grant Street and 11th streets on the campus.
The estimated cost of removing the building is $1.8 million, and the project includes “removing all evidence” of the structure, which was built in 1966. The building’s footprint will be used as an interim parking area until the university decides what it wants to do with it.
Foster Hall was most recently one of two dining halls on the IUP campus, along with Folger Dining Hall. Foster closed prior to the start of the Spring 2016 semester as part of the $37 million master dining plan at IUP, dubbed the Dining Innovations project, which was completed with the opening of the North Dining Commons in the fall of 2017. The new dining offerings in the plan also include the Crimson Café, located behind Fisher Auditorium, and a newly-renovated Folger Dining Hall.
Bids for the Foster Hall demolition are due November 14th.
