The Pirates yesterday designated Todd Frazier for assignment in order to make room on the roster for outfielder Ben Gamel, who was claimed off waivers from Cleveland on Sunday, Gamel was activated for last night’s game, appeared as a pinch hitter and played first base. He was 0-for-2.
Manager Derek Shelton said the Bucs will have Gregory Polanco back with the club “within the next few days”, but the team still has not said why Polanco was put on the 10-day injured lost last week.
