Indiana Borough Council got their first look at next year’s budget at last night’s planning meeting.
Two versions of the borough budget were presented last night by borough manager C. Michael Foote: one where there is no tax increase where they will have a $67,139 deficit and a budget with a half-a mil tax increase, which would balance. That half-mil tax increase would raise taxes for the average borough resident by $79.16. Foote said that the half-mil tax increase budget was introduced as an idea to give the borough some “rainy day” funds.
The council will vote on advertising one of the two budgets in November and approve a final budget in December.
In other business, John Southard was sworn in as the newest borough council member for Ward 3, filling a vacancy that came when James Smith resigned from borough council earlier this year.
