Organizers are getting ready for the annual Blairsville Polar Plunge on New Year’s Day.
The event has helped many different organizations and people in the past, but this year, it will assist the Blairsville Fire Department’s Water Rescue Team. This year marks the 12th year of the event, and Ab Dettorre of the Blairsville Fire Department said that having a swift water rescue team is a costly venture.
The plunge will be held starting at noon at the Blairsville Veterans Memorial Bridge Boat Launch. Those interested can still take part by signing up on the day of the event. A donation of $20 is being asked for to take part, but you can also stay dry on the shores and also be a part of the action.
