The Blairsville Middle School had the Ribbon Cutting for the new fitness equipment at Blairsville’s middle school.
The new Project Fit equipment was installed at the Blairsville Middle School for the start of the school year, and according to Heather Reed with the Indiana Healthcare Foundation, it’s already received some use. While many may be familiar with the Project Fit equipment at the elementary level, Reed said there are some subtle changes at the middle school level. The obstacles are taller or wider than the elementary school equipment to give middle schoolers more of a challenge. Also, medicine balls and weighted jump ropes were added to the indoor equipment. Reed also mentioned that the goals are also a bit tougher to attain, as they want middle school students to continue to strive.
Blairsville Middle School is the first middle school to receive the Project Fit equipment in the county, and Reed is hopeful they can expand out to other middle schools.
Yesterday’s ceremonies included demonstrations of the program and a donation of $150 by Blairsville Middle School to Bertie’s Closet.
