BASEBALL
HOMER-CENTER – 11, NORTHERN CAMBRIA – 10
Michael Krejocic picked up where he left off on Tuesday after leading the Wildcats to a 11-10 win over Northern Cambria. Krejocic not only collected three hits on Tuesday, but he also picked up the win on the mound after striking out two over 3.1 innings. Andrew Ruddock matched Krejocic’s total at the plate, going 3-for-5.
Matt Sedlock and Mike Hoover racked up four hits a piece for the Colts. Half of Hoover’s hits went for extra bases. Despite earning the loss, Josh Miller struck out five hitters in 3.2 innings pitched.
SALTSBURG – 17, PURCHASE LINE – 10
The Trojans lit up the scoring column with an eight-run third inning to beat the Red Dragons, 17-10. Purchase Line sparked a rally in the fifth inning after plating seven runs, but Saltsburg’s pitching shut them down throughout the final two frames.
Saltsburg was led by Rocco Bartolini who went 2-for-4 at the plate and drove in five runs. Angelo Bartolini also collected two hits, but did damage on the basepaths by stealing four bags.
Austin Chambers went 3-for-5 with three RBIs for Purchase Line.
MARION CENTER – 7, PENNS MANOR – 1
Braden Reichenbach fueled the Stingers on Tuesday after striking out seven hitters through four innings of relief, earning him a win on the season.
Offensively, Skylar Olp and Marcus Badzik provided the lumber support with a home run each. Badzik finished the game with a 3-for-4 showing. Gaven Palko stayed patient at the plate as he collected two walks.
BLAIRSVILLE – 8, WEST SHAMOKIN – 3
Both teams were tied at one heading into the final frame, and from there, the Bobcats offense delivered seven runs to not only give themselves the lead, but also their first win of the season.
Justin Smulik led West Shamokin with two hits. Trevor Smulik pitched six innings in the game, striking out eight and allowing just one hit. He would earn a no-decision.
No individual stats were reported for Blairsville.
NORTH CATHOLIC – 7, INDIANA – 1
The Little Indians fell to 6-3-1 on the season after North Central held them to one run and four hits on Tuesday.
Branden Yanity went 2-for-2 at the plate and Steven Budash walked twice.
SOFTBALL
MARION CENTER – 12, PENNS MANOR – 0
The Stingers piled on seven runs in the first inning and put the game away with two runs in the fifth to earn a five-inning win over the Comets on Tuesday.
Kate Hnatko and Gwen Stahl picked up Penns Manor’s only hits in the game.
No individual stats were reported for Marion Center.
NORTHERN CAMBRIA – 8, HOMER-CENTER – 7
Homer-Center jumped out to an early 5-2 lead in the first, but the Colts would inch back throughout the later innings to beat Northern Cambria.
No individual stats for either team were reported.
BLAIRSVILLE 14, WEST SHAMOKIN 3
In a game shortened by the mercy rule, Belle Pynos led Blairsville with two hits, four runs and one RBI from her leadoff spot. Brin Gardner added three hits, including a double, and knocked in three runs. Madison Stutzman also had an RBI and Hannah Foust added three hits and a RBI.
Michaela Ingmire and Bailey Dunlap contributed singles to the Bobcat offensive effort and freshman catcher Tori Foust was contributed two hits, including a RBI double.
Hannah Foust pitched the complete six innings, limiting the Wolves to four hits. The Conemaugh Valley Blue Jays come to Blairsville Friday at 4pm for a non-conference tilt.
