Four fire crews were called out Friday for a house fire in Ernest.
Indiana County 911 reported that Creekside, Indiana, and Clymer fire departments were initially called out to a home at 98 Store Hill Road in Ernest at 7:53 PM Friday night. Plumville Fire Department was also called in to assist about 10 minutes later.
Creekside Fire Chief Cody Hitchings said the two-story home was fully engulfed by the time they got there, and they had to use an aerial truck to drop water from above because they did not want to risk anyone inside the building getting hurt. The Attic and 2nd floor would eventually collapse onto the first floor.
Hitchings said they did have a problem related to hydrant pressure. The hydrant they initially plugged into on the next street down did not have adequate water pressure to get to the house. Firefighting operations had to stop until they could hook up an engine to relay pump so that there was enough water pressure.
The names of the people in the home were not released, but they were not hurt, and they are being assisted by family members and the American Red Cross.
