The commonwealth could soon be helping school districts that want to switch over to electric school buses.
The Pennsylvania House Education Committee recently voted to advance a bill that would establish an Electric School Bus Grant Program. It would be run by the state’s Department of Education. The plan would also help with the costs of charging infrastructure and facility upgrades.
Lawmakers say most federal programs don’t cover charging stations so a state bill could make up for that.
